A client can apply for admission to the Graduate Sober Community and be willing and motivated to continue to participate in services offered by Hope House. Encouraged by the successful deployment of Lost In Boston Real Time at Hope House, the project is exploring new community Alcohol abuse partnerships. Upping the ante, this time around we’ll be seeking to build a system of signs within a community that combines real time event and public transportation information. Sober living homes are group residences for people who are recovering from addiction. In most instances, people who live in sober homes have to follow certain house rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home. Skills addressed include dressing, personal care, maintaining clothing, physical fitness, medicating, cooking, cleaning, eco sober house ma accessing community resources, laundry, time management, and money management. They continue to participate in weekly small groups meetings and step meetings. During Phase III, each client works with his case manager to prepare for life after Hope House, including finalizing plans for long term housing.

IEP addresses post-secondary goals identified by each young adult such as living arrangements, career choices, continued post-secondary education, and working with adult agencies. Integrated across the HOPEhouse curriculum in order to allow young adults to develop practical and functional life skills throughout their day. Post-secondary educational opportunities may be supported for young adults who are ready for higher education. At the 21 day Phase I program, clients are evaluated for special needs in the areas of housing, medical condition, job prospects and the like. A client may be referred to community programs and/or practitioners who have affiliation agreements with Hope House as a means to address various special needs. At the Phase II “Work Program” all clients, if physically able, are expected to be gainfully employed in a full-time job or be engaged in seeking full-time employment on a daily basis. Clients who are unable to work are expected to attend house meetings and to take advantage of volunteer opportunities. As a condition of Phase II, all clients with income must pay a program fee in the form of rent at $119 per week or $17 per day. The organization has expanded to include five centers in the South End. Additionally, the organization provides individualized treatment care and offers referrals to practitioners and community programs that have collaboration agreements with Hope House.

Hope House was the setting where, in 1972, former Governor Francis Sargent signed a law that decriminalized public intoxication and required police forces to help get intoxicated individuals into treatment. Hope House is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities , and our programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health . This is a reality for many of the 102 individuals living at Hope House in Boston’s South End. When residents are faced with the inevitable delays that come with their daily commutes via public transit, it creates an additional stress in an already challenging time in their lives.

Please feel free to give me a call and we can schedule a time for you to have an individual tour or attend one of our monthly information sessions. Hope House helps all able residents to be gainfully employed and contribute to their room and board. This starts them on the road to financial independence and provides necessary work experience when they seek future employment. Counselors assist clients in their job search by working with local employment agencies and suggesting companies known to hire individuals in recovery. Seeking out and applying for a job is a lesson in individual responsibility and employment is a key component of recovery. Residents are expected to work and pay their program fee on a weekly basis.
Career preparation while enrolled in a post-secondary educational program. Young adults at HOPEhouse have the option to participate in Career Preparation and Vocational Exploration to prepare for realistic and meaningful eco sober house review work opportunities upon completion of the program. Provide meaningful, diverse opportunities for young adults to transfer and generalize skills that are introduced throughout the HOPEhouse curriculum.
